Good performance from Syed against the Hammer

[12] Omar Mosaad (EGY) 3-0 [WC] Syed Azlan Amjad (QAT) 11-5, 11-2, 11-6 (25m)

A very good performance from the Pakistani born Syed Amjad, training at Aspire, and doing a mighty good job at it! The score doesn’t reflect the work produced on there. The Qatari is playing a good powerful squash, and was even able to force a few errors out of the Hammer of Thor at the end there. Good potential there for sure.

Of course I could have done much better, there is always room for improvement! He is a top class player, and no matter if I played him on a cold court or on a bouncy one, he would have still been very hard work!

I was trying to get my shots deeper and higher but I was not able to do it as much as I wanted. It was a great experience, I’m still at university but once I finish, I hope I can train harder to try and move quicker on court, I feel I’m too slow. But definitely a great experience

Every match in this tournament is very important, it doesn’t matter who you are playing, you have to put in 100 per cent in every match. It was a challenge for me because it was the first time I played him, but I’m really happy that I focused today, started well and won this match.

Last year I was playing here with Adrian Waller and I lost 3-0. After this match I changed my training, I went back to my old team and I think they did a really good job in the summer. I didn’t play well at my first three tournaments, I played with Ali Farag in the last tournament, so I didn’t have a chance to play my good squash.

In this tournament I started in the first round really well and I’m really happy and looking forward for more. It’s amazing to be here, they’re really good facilities, the squash courts, hotel, everything. I’m really happy to play in front of this amazing crowd and I will work 100 per cent in the next match.
