The Qatari Men’s squash team claimed three medals during their participation in the 2019 edition of West Asian Championship concluded in Iran on Sunday.
Al Tamimi crowned west Asia champion
Qatar’s Abdullah Al Tamimi claimed the title of singles event after beating Iran’s Sajad Zareian 3-0 in the final match to be the first Qatari player to win this event.
Sayyed Amjad claimed finishes third
For his part, Qatar’s Sayyed Amjad claimed the bronze medal of singles event to increase Qatar’s tally of medals.
Qatar men’s team add another silver medal
In teams’ event, the Qatari men’s team clinched the silver medal after reaching the final match following their victories over Iraq and Kuwait.
Khalid Al Khelaifi: Proud of our squash champions
Khalid Al Khelaifi, Board Member of the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation congratulated the players of Qatar men’s squash national team on their achievements in West Asian Squash Tournament.
“We are proud of our squash champions and of their performance during the tournament as they claimed three medals including the gold medal of our star Abdullah Al Tamimi in singles event” he said
“These achievements will inspire the federation to make more efforts and support its players in their careers” he added.
Al Khelaifi also stressed that these medals came as a fruit for vision of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and his unravelled support to the Qatari athletes.
The state of Qatar was represented by four players including Abdullah Al Tamimi, Ibrahim Al Darwish, Sayed Amjad and Hamad Al Amri. The delegation was chaired by Yousef Al Malki and accompanied by the coach Omer Zaman.
