“I started the season with some good training, and I was looking to show my game, how I have improved, but I did not have a chance in my first three tournaments.
He has been improving a lot recently, and he played superb squash in the Pyramids. So I knew it was going to be a tough match both mentally and physically.
In the first game, he just played too well. I tried to come back in the game but he was just too good.
The second, I started well, I was more patient and building up the opportunities but it’s really in the third that I started to relax and found my shots.
I got a good strong lead in the 4th, 7-3, but I made the error of thinking about winning, and Baptiste tried his best to stop me. He led 8/7 up and I’m just lucky I managed to take the next four points somehow!
I am just happy to be through my first round match here in Qatar. Tomorrow, I’ll have a day off, and will enjoy the presence of my father in law in Qatar…
