Qatar’s Abdullah Al Tamimi claimed the second place in the QSF Challenger Squash Open organized by the Qatar Squash Federation (QSF) the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex with the participation of 24 players.
In the final match, Al Tamimi went down fighting against top seed Leo Au of Hong Kong who finished the match with a result of 13-11 11-7 11-5.
Speaking after the match, Al Tamimi said “I’m so happy that I took the second place after coming back from my knee injury and after an exciting final against the top seed Leo Au”
“I have played some good match during the tournament but I didn’t expect to reach the final match after the knee injury that kept me away for a month” he added.
Al Tamimi stressed that he will have a training camp in Germany before taking part in two tournaments in Hong Kong and Shanghai.
The medal ceremony was attended by the QSF Secretary-General Tariq Zainal and the QSF Executing Director Saad Al Mohannadi in addition to a number of the QSF employees.
The QSF Secretary-General Tariq Zainal congratulated Qatar’s Abdullah Al Tamimi on his achievement after taking the second place in this challenger tournament despite his injury.
Zainal added that this achievement will motivate the rest of his colleagues to follow the same track.
Al Tamimi cruised to the final match after beating India’s Mahesh Mangaonkar 3-1 in the first semifinals match.
Al Tamimi leads the standings of the Qatari squash after turning professional in 2011. He also made so many huge achievements during career including winning title of Malaysian Open.
