Qatar’s World No.33 Abdulla Al Tamimi claimed the 2018 Malaysian Open title after defeating Hong Kong’s Tsz Fung Yip in the final match on Sunday.
Al Tamimi secured his biggest PSA World Tour title of his career as he came through a testing five-game battle with Hong Kong’s number two seed Fung Yip.
The Hong Kong player took the first game before Al Tamimi battled back to lead 2-1, before fighting off a comeback from Yip to win 5-11, 12-10, 11-1, 7-11, 11-5 in 52 minutes.
Al Tamimi qualified to the final match of the event after coming from 2-1 down to shock World No.20 Leo of Hong Kong on Saturday.
