Egyptian player Tarek Momen has claimed the title of the third edition of the Qatar International Squash Tournament for professionals, hosted by the Qatar Squash Federation with the participation of 24 international players.
Momen secured the championship by defeating Malaysian player Eain Yow in the final match with a score of three sets to one, 11-6, 11-4, 5-11, 11-5.
With this victory, Momen has won his tenth title on the Professional Squash Association (PSA) World Tour and his first since the Windsor Cup last August.
Momen advanced to the final after defeating Qatari player Abdullah Al-Tamimi in the semifinals with a straight-sets victory, 12-10, 11-6, 12-10.
The awards ceremony was overseen by Mr. Tariq Zainal, the General Secretary of the Qatar Tennis, Squash, Badminton, and Table Tennis Federation, in the presence of squash enthusiasts.
Mr. Zainal extended his congratulations to Tarek Momen on winning the championship, commending his performance in the final match alongside his competitor, Malaysian player Eain Yow.
Zainal stated, “We witnessed extremely strong and competitive displays during this tournament, with a stellar lineup of top global players eager to be in Doha and compete for the title.”
He emphasized that hosting this championship aligns with the federation’s policy to develop squash and support all its elements, including Qatari players, who are the foundation of any success or achievement. The total prize money for this bronze-tiered tournament amounts to $53,500.
